Galatians 2:14 (Darnell Tayleor)

As Christians, it is so hard to for us to come to the basic understanding that Christ was who He said He was and did for us what He said He did. Born in a manger, but died on a tree to save a wretch like you and me. To comprehend this message has to take the greatest faith and understanding of this kind of sacrifice to grasp the full scope of this kind of Love.

This is the reason I believe the Galatians and today’s Christians alike have a hard time believing in the saving power of Christ. If we look closely at our lives we will find that we too live not as ourselves, or as God has created us to be. I believe they call it, “keeping up with the Jones’s” these days. We live in houses we can not afford we by cars that exceeds our yearly income, we look at Television for our next inspiration for our next piece of clothing. If our neighbors have it them we want it, if our friends start getting married we go out of our way to get there too. It’s just our nature to want what others have. That’s why Paul tells us in James not to envy, but just to ask our Heavenly Father. We sometime loose God’s vision for us and get ensnared with trying to be like others so that that god doesn’t notice us as the person he created.

Like Paul clearly reprimanded the Galatians for leaving the true Gospel and relying on self for salvation. We need that same kick in the butt, but on a daily basis because the floods of the devil comes in so through our daily entertainment television, internet, ads, you name it it comes and we need a buffer to keep us safe from all harms, we need a Paul to clarify the Truth to us daily. We ourselves need to learn the Truth about the person God has created and why. You/we are God’s and the Bible calls us His royal Priesthood, a Peculiar people, meat for the Master’s use. Sons and Daughters, Heir’s of the Kingdom, Beloved, Children Of God, Salt of Earth, Light of the World, and we need to know everything God was thinking when He created us so we can be Paul to our respective circles of influence, family, friends, at work and with believers in Christ alike. So now return to your first love, and turn around to the One that has called you from darkness unto the marvelous light, living what you know that God has created you to be.

  1. Darnell, I got your point: be “yourself” that God has created, good thought!! Just need a little proofreading ;o)

  2. I think we as Christians act like the non-Christians do. How can a non-Christian tell us apart from say a Buddhist or Moron? What makes us, as Christians, different. Lots of times it is difficult since we act like non-Christians.

Acting this way does have to do with envy. We feel that we should be blessed by God. Lots of times I forget that I am already blessed like Darnell said. This thought process of wanting God’s blessing goes into our very being. If I am not happy in my marriage and God surely wants me to be happy, then I should get divorced. If God wants me to be happy and I want to be married, but I am single, then I need to take matters into my own hands and get married.

Best thing to do is get back to basics. Have the child-like faith to believe that God really does love us perfectly. That He has our BEST interests at heart. Tough to do since “God helps them who help themselves” I used to think that was in the Bible, but God loves us and wants us to co-labor with Him in our lives. Where is God actively working in my life? Can I see that? If I can, then why am I not working with God? If I can’t see God working in my life, then it is obvious that I am not listening.

I put myself in that boat. Lord, please help me to see you working in my life.

  3. That was that idea Ed, I get us to start seeing ourselves as Saved Christians washed in the Blood of Christ. today’s self-image of the Christian is much different from what the Galatians experienced and we have to recognize that. I wanted to mention the singles feeling the need that strong need to be married because all their friends are, and we try to help God along as if He needs our help, but if we could just step back let go and let God we can see His hand in our lives every single day of our single existence.
